FAQs

Traditional Thai Massage is unlike forms of Swedish and Sports massage that people often encounter in the UK. Firstly, it is carried out on a thick floor mat rather than a massage table. Loose clothing is also worn and no oil is used.
It is often described as ‘lazy man’s yoga’ thanks to the diverse range of full-body assisted stretches it uses. Massage therapists are also not just limited to fingers and thumbs; palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet are used to carefully apply pressure along the Sen lines that Thai medicine believes run through our body.
A massage from Thai Go Massage Therapy will follow a Northern Style; it will be smooth, slow and delightfully relaxing. For more visit What is Traditional Thai Massage?

During the massage, you will remain fully clothed. Therefore, you should wear comfortable or loose-fitting clothing. This could include gym wear, loungewear or loose linen clothing.

Thanks to its deep stretches and its thorough approach to massaging the full body, Thai massage can work our bodies in ways they are not used to.
It is normal to experience some soreness after a Thai massage treatment. This is because the massage involves stimulating muscles that you don’t usually use, which can cause inflammation and delayed-onset muscle pain. As such, it is quite normal to experience some soreness anywhere from a few hours to about a day and a half following treatment.
In rare cases, undiagnosed conditions can become irritated. If you believe you are experiencing anything abnormal after your massage, please contact info@thaigomassage.co.uk and we will endeavour to solve your issue.
It’s also important to communicate with your massage therapist about your medical history, medication changes, allergies, and recent illnesses to ensure the most effective treatment. Doing so will help maximise the effectiveness of your massage.

When your therapist arrives they bring everything to ensure you have the best experience possible. They use a thick floor mat with a heated blanket, pillows, wool blanket, fresh sheets and towels.
They also use several items that require power; a kettle to heat water and towels, a speaker and a diffuser.

Firstly, prepare a space in your home so there is approximately 3 x 3 meters of empty floor space. This is where the massage will take place. Ideally, this room will remain as free from disruption as possible so that you can fully relax during your massage. If there are any children or pets in the house, they should be supervised by an adult in a different room.

Before your massage, your therapist will revise your client information form with you to discuss any current health issues. The therapist will tailor the massage to your needs to ensure you get the most out of it.
You can also make requests at any time during the massage. That could be to change the pressure, spend longer in a specific position or inform them of any discomfort you may be experiencing.
We ask that if you are experiencing an infectious disease or virus in the days approaching your massage you cancel your appointment via Acuity Scheduling. This is to avoid illness spreading to both the therapist and other clients.
